[is she serious or does she just like exaggerations? no way to tell here, not in the least. because honestly, he's almost ready to give anyone the benefit of the doubt around here anymore...]
[so clearly the best way to address this is to assume a middle ground, as such:]
look i know jogging isnt exactly for everyone its alright different strokes for different folks some people go for a run some people
punch things into suns
scool
and your names Bayonetta? at least thats what the compass says
taking your word for it sounds like youre an authority on these things after all
[and for the first time he's almost grateful for toneless text, there, because he's honestly half-certain that would have come out a bit dubious and mildly sarcastic whether he'd wanted it to or not...]
[but oh--]
and yeah thats thats right! thats me the one and only
[she said legend oh man...okay no but let's not preen delightedly to yourself too much here you're still in the middle of a text conversation]
[ahem wow text really can be kind of useful for keeping it cool sometimes]
kinda nice to run into people that actualy recognise it
[yes somehow this is unexpected even though they'd just finished talking about punching deities into suns, but man...]
been a little while since ive heard about those guys
didnt figure there were any of you guys left around actualy no offense or anything
[and that second bit...hits surprisingly close to home, for all that it's probably unintentional. but it's still a bit of delay between texts, before:]
dont need to tell me twice about that though people do believe in different things these days
None taken. Most of us were wiped out in my world as well, save for a few.
[Her father was a horrible person and started the Witch Hunts to try and make Bayonetta hate enough to want to rebirth the world. She doesn't talk about him much.]
It makes it a little easier for me to do my job, at least. Even if the evidence is all around them. Sometimes they prefer to remain blind, it's easier for them that way.
[yeeeah that would be. An exceptionally uncool thing indeed. and Jack thought he had moondad issues, man…]
yeah it was pretty bad everybody was scared back then only saw the last few decades of it myself but even that was more than enough realy
im sorry
[The last bit being somewhat awkward, even through text, because…well, what do you say, to something like this, when you’re talking to one of the few survivors of a massacre? In the end, the topic shift is almost welcome by comparison. …Almost.]
yeah? where im from its more a matter of belief or maybe thats the same thing but im not sure kinda hard to prefer something youre not aware of in the first place id figure
[The change of subject isn't a big thing for her, but if he wants to do so, she doesn't mind.]
Where I'm from, it's not the fact of belief so much as sight. A willingness to see, I suppose you could call it.
[Luka knew she was there, even if he couldn't see the other realm. It took Cereza to show him that there was more than just her that he blinded himself to.
People are the same way. Vigrid was full of believers of Jubileus and the angels, but they couldn't see them because they chose to be blind in their faith.]
[It's about half a minute's delay longer than usual before the reply comes in, as Jack mulls over all this for a bit.]
i huh
im not sure i totally understand though willingness and belief can be different things i can see that but i just are you a myth or is it something with the magic you use or ?
[Though mostly it's just Jack having a hard time wrapping his head around that concept, more than anything else. Belief is a matter of extremes, or at least it had been in his world. (The Charon really doesn't count in the rule department, because the Charon seems to cheat at everything in some way.) You either believed or you didn't. You either saw the entities you believed in, or you didn't see anything at all. Whether you wanted to see them or not was of entirely no consequence, unless that sort of thing actually does have a way to affect belief somehow...]
[Jack finds he's honestly not quite sure, all of a sudden--who's to say he's any expert on belief anyway? That's a laughable idea even to him--but it's still a pretty interesting thing. Because even if it isn't exactly the same thing, he never thought he'd be discussing something like this with someone that can relate, and hails from another world to boot.]
[Though all that aside, that last bit of the text...takes up the remaining ten seconds of Jack's delay, mostly with dubious peering. Because really. LADY HOW ARE YOU SO NONCHALANT ABOUT--THIS STUFF--IS THIS GOING TO START BEING A TREND.................]
uh but wait you mean like the actual heavenly wings and harps and etc kind of angels
[Ah, right. It's not something so easy to understand when you're not from her world.]
Not a myth, no. More or less a legend or story now, because of the Witch Hunts.
What I mean by having a willingness to see is the want to see more than what is just around you. My world is separated into five realms: Paradiso, which is the top realm, Inferno, which is the bottom, and then Limbo, Purgatorio, and the human realm in between. Some places have a stronger attachment to one realm than to others, such as Vigrid being attached to Paradiso- but that's all it has. The people may be devoted, but they're blindly devoted, which means they won't want to see beyond the fantasy the books and words their so-called religion paints.
The reason people don't see me is because I travel in between these realms all the time. Only the people who actually want to see and know I exist, do.
Does that make more sense?
[IT'S HER LIFE, JACK, GET USED TO IT.]
Hardly. The angels of my realm are hideous. They're nothing like those cute cherubs with golden halos you see in churches. They're much more like monsters.
[Oh wow that's--a lot of text and a lot of information RIGHT OKAY SETTLING DOWN AND READING AND DIGESTING THIS FOR A MOMENT, which is another delay that takes up a good five minutes or so. Then, finally:]
alright i think im starting to get it now yeah is the human realm Earth ? not to assume but i mean
the world im froms called Earth and thats pretty much it as far as uh realms , go belief is how us spirits of the world exist , and how were seen by humans because if they stop believing we kind of start fading away
so , different rules for the both of us , looks like thats really intresting though ive never met somebody that has kind of the same thing going on is that happening to you on this ship too ? some people seeing you some people not ..?
[BUT IT MIGHT TAKE AWHILE....also o-oh that's an unexpected verdict]
but wow thats news to hear sounds like a good reason to hunt them i guess guesing they dont do all the angelic stuff angels are usualy known for either ? plenty of hype about those guys where im from but ive never seen one
The human realm is the realm humans live on, which is Earth- and so are all the other realms, to an extent. Limbo and Purgatorio reside right in the same place, and nothing changes. Portals to Paradiso can be found all around, so long as you have magic. People can see me because I can't access the other realms here.
[It usually is-- but there's a catch.]
They're angels, and I'm a witch. It's in my contract to hunt them. Besides, they're so ugly I jut have to put them out of their misery.
no subject
alright or we can just casualy refer to it as a workout like its no big deal
i can roll with that
[granted she'd talked about it pretty much like this last time too, so it's not as much of a surprise]
[BUT STILL]
i GUESS jogging around the block just wouldnt be the same huh
no subject
[THERE WE GO JUST... CASUALLY MENTION WE KILLED A GOD. BAYONETTA STAHP.]
no subject
[..........well then]

[Of course she'd know about him. Prideful as she is, it'd be a bit ridiculous if she didn't.]
I'm a witch, darling! Of course I would know you. Unfortunately there aren't many people in the world who believe in magic anymore.
no subject
